He'd never turn down a guaranteed ~20k crowd.

As much as I want Whelan to lose out, I'm glad the JJB have a fixture as it links Wigan to international Rugby League. Not only that, the games usually have a fantastic atmosphere.

The GB V Aussie game at the jjb when we won was one of the best atmospheres i have ever been part of.

Is it not just me who thinks that the England/Australia game is wasted at the JJB. Surely we would be able to sell out Old Trafford for it, and possibly even scare the Aussies to death at the same time with bad weather and a loud, partisan, even hostile crowd?

Time to play them at their own game, methinks. Make them play a game in Tenerife, with one on the Shetland Islands five days later. ;-)

After the World Cup, I'd be suprised if the JJB sells out let alone Old Trafford.

We never lose hope, Alex. Plus we all know we're more likely to give them a game on our own midding than on theirs.

We all know England were rubbish, but a lot of that, you know, is to do with acclimatisation and turnaround. Remember, England were in the tropics one week, down in Melbourne the next where the weather is very 'British' then back in the warmth after. Add to that several fairly long flights.

The Aussies, on the other hand, played all their games fairly close to each other. They ALWAYS weight it towards them. It's about time we pulled the same trick, and stopped capitulating to them. We've lost before we've even pulled on the jersey.

Plus, Manchester's a good pissup before and after

old traffords a football ground.........rugby should be played on a rugby ground.
ok we share/rent it but its still a rugby ground.

and the GF should be moved to a rugby ground too imo, regardless of having a lower attendance.

in an ideal world the rugby league would build a stadium for such events and hire it out in season to somebody.......us for example.......like hampden park and queens park sfc.
