Post subject: | Ref gets suspended |
Quote:The Rugby Football League, meanwhile, has suspended Richard Silverwood, one of the six full-time referees employed by the governing body, because of an alleged breach of his colleagues' confidentiality.
An RFL spokesman confirmed today that he has been suspended indefinitely for "an alleged breach of IT policy". This is understood to involve supplying the personal details of fellow referees to a trade union without first receiving their permission. He declined to comment today. Pro refs beginning to look very thin with two part timers being used over the weekend. |

I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over Silverwood's absence. They might do around St Helens way, however. |

Good on the RFL. He had no right to supply details without prior consent. |

He had no right to supply details without prior consent. The RFL could be in even more trouble than Silverwood for not having adequate data protection security. I'm shocked - no really I am. |

"This is understood to involve supplying the personal details of fellow referees to a trade union without first receiving their permission." its hardly down to a lack of security or data protection provision - any company is susceptible to breaches in security through employee foul play, even those with the best and most rigorous security proceedures. |
