Wigan full-back Richard Mathers has been handed a two-match ban after being found guilty of tripping an opponent.

Mathers was sin-binned for the offence on winger Dave Halley during the 12-6 home defeat by Wakefield on Sunday and subsequently cited by the Rugby Football League's match review panel.

On Tuesday evening the Rugby Football League's disciplinary committee fined him £300 and suspended him for Wigan's next two matches, against Hull FC away on Friday and at home to Castleford Tigers a week later.

It'll be interesting to see whether Noble play's him when he returns from his ban

Gutted. Only because it would have been interesting to see if Noble would have dropped him.

Methinks he may find it hard to get back in the team.

Richards or Amos at FB then? And who comes in? Pryce? Goulding with Phelps to wing?

Im glad I dont think Noble would have the balls to drop him.

We will also maybe get chance to see Roberts mover to fullback and maybe see Goulding/Pryce/Ainscough/Tomkins get a game.

I think even playing as we were on sunday, if Mathers had not of been playing we might of just scraped through, he gave the team no confidence and made many mistakes and also got 10 minutes.

Goulding has always struck me as a fine RL player, cant understand why noble doesn't play him more tbh.

Noble might have no option but to drop him if his replacement plays well.

We all know that if we find a suitable wing replacement for Richards then Mathers won't play in the first for a good length of time until we receive injuries.

I can't see Roberts starting there on Friday in all honesty.
