Looking forward to seeing Gelling and Thornley in the centres.
Even though we have plenty of Props in the squad, i would much, much rather us sign another before a centre.
Not that it will happen as there is no one available that i can think of.
I agree pal. People saying we could be mid table are well off the mark imo. Confident we'll be top 4 with a decent chance of silverware this year. Quality young backs competing for places. A pair of halves with a lot to prove and a generally young, hungry pack with a lot of size & skill.
I heard that Parra had asked to go over the cap in 2013 by what they intend paying Folau and then for the 2014 season play with a reduced cap equal to the same amount.
But the sticking point is the $400.000 valuation Parra have put on him which is the problem.

If Para are struggling to fit $400 k under the cap it looks like Falou might be lost to the NRL...
Now
If we can offer Finch 300k (approx $450 aus dollars) then why do we not put an offer for him?
Were else will he go ?
Back to the ARL?
Get him snapped up Mr Chairman!
(please)
What's the rumpus, Tom?

SMH are saying today that the NRL players association is looking to increase the salary cap from $5m to $6.5m. Should they settle at around $6m the Eels will be able to afford Folau and maybe keep all other sqaud members too. The $6m is around £4m so the chances of quality NRL players coming over are decreasing by the year. Five to six years ago 47% of SL players were from overseas, now it's around 17-18%. Imagine the percentage in five years time!

The key though is to try to retain our own players.
If we can keep quality Brits and have 1 overseas player/team I would be very happy.
Obviously there will be a short term hit in the quality of the competition but long term I think it is a very positive step.
It is good that there will be more places for young british players and there is a chance that we may be able to raise the standard of our domestic league and potentially the home nations international sides.
I do worry however that we may become slightly insular without the overseas players in the squad.
Time will tell i suppose

Adam Blair flew over yesterday and has been training the deal is going to be signed this week
Got to say this is a top signing
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
He is a monster on his day though. Real pack leader.
I would be very happy if this came off. Very happy.
