I don't want us to sign Chris Bailey but because I have no say on it if he is signed then I would give him a chance.
P.S. What did I say the other day?
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.
I would rather find some consistancy in the team and play Tomkins and Leuluai at 6 and 7 than sign Bailey. If we sign him though I would want McIlorum sent out on loan.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

Bailey is not good enough to take the place of McIlurom in the squad or the starting side.

I'm totally stumped on our overseas signings positions.
If we sign Chris Bailey and keep Phil on and thats means we've no spots left to bring in the prop we need first and foremost the signing of Bailey would seem another shocking call.
This makes me seriously worried about our signings. We have missed out on too many players IMO.
Briscoe
Dobson
Carvell
Could of all been playing for us had we had some sense. Those 3 players would improve our line up straight away.

If you regard signing up all our best youngsters on much better contracts, fast-tracking the next generation as well, and still having enough cash to enlarge the first team squad to the point where even an injury crisis like the current one doesn't stop us winning matches as a defeat, then you're right.
I however don't regard it that way.
Signing megastars who we can't really afford got us in very serious trouble last time (especially when they don't always perform - Fielden for example). A more prudent approach is surely to be welcomed?

Well no need to panic yet regarding the signing of either Leuluai's brother or Bailey's brother, but like were stating there in positions were reasonably strong in plus there players that aren't actually that good, so for me don't sign either. Like Lenegan states were after "Top Quality" players and neither of these two fall into that category, although I suppose Lenegan's perception of top quality may differ from mine and yours and that's what worry's me, the phrase cheap as chips springs to mind.
Wigan vs Leeds finals aggregate score.
Wigan 178 - 64 Leeds
Wigan wins - 6 Leeds wins - 0
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.

It's not necessarily his perception of quality that differs from yours. It's more likely his perception of Wigan's wage bill and how close it is to busting the salary cap.
I think you'd probably agree that he's definitely better qualified than you to make a judgement call on the basis of that.

Well he is going to be better placed at fitting people within the salary cap than I am for the simple reason that he has the facts and figures and runs the club, yet his perception of quality is still to be proved by the signings he makes. Why Lenegan came out and stated the only players I will sign will be "Top quality" talk about hanging yourself, he's lifted peoples expectations for who may join us next year by making that comment and I hope he sticks to it and does as he says.

I know lots of people might not agree with me on this. But....
If we are willing to go and pay a transfer fee to get Chris Bailey out of his contract to be our new halfback then I would actually like to see us go out and try and get a British halfback who is currently under contract and bid for them instead.
My personal choice would be Danny Brough. After seeing him playing against Saints he kicked them to death. He is a big talker and always seems to be shouting orders to the team, again along with his very good kicking game I think he would be an very complementary scrum half to play alongside Tomkins.
Brough would relieve alot of the pressure of organising and kicking from Tomkins while still allowing him to play his own game with Brough having a different style to Tomkins.
This would obviously mean Leuluai playing as a number 9 (and consequently McIllorum going on load etc)
Im not saying Brough would be the 1st choice Id like the team to go after for a halfback but if were going to pay a transfer fee on an overseas player, why not pay one for a British player instead.
