However, I'm led to believe that McManus now gets on much better with Lenagan than he did with Mo.
Yeah Mr Lenegan showed Mr McManus round the JJB not to long ago. IIRC this is actually the first time a chairman of St Helens has ever been in the Wigan board room.
If we could sign Myler, would Deacon be a good short term option, in him being a good organising scrum half with a very good kicking game and a Wiganner?

please no, deacon lost it years and years ago. He struggles in the worst bradford side i've ever seen, how would he even be a good short term option?

His injury record in the past couple of seasons has been shocking so i'd probably say no but i get where your coming from.
Sam/Leuluai are runners which would leave Deacon free to do the kicking/passing.

That was exactly what i was thinking, but only if we could also sign Myler.
It would be a risk, but no bigger one than bringing Newton back which some have advocated.

I loved Terry when he was at Wigan, but players never hit the heights they once did when the return to a former club (or it’s very rare they do). besides that, if we were to sign Terry we would have to get rid of Piggy and if we were to get rid of one underperforming hooker why would we take the risk in signing another possible underperformer. I just can’t see any benefits in signing him whatsoever.
As for Deacon, would he even want to come to Wigan? he has been at Bradford all his career and given the opportunity to finish where he started must be in his thinking.
saying that I know he is a Wigner and still lives here (never out of the Brocket!). so the attraction of playing for Wigan must be a draw also. Saying that would it be an attraction if he knew he was coming here to be a bit part player? I doubt it (then again this is all hypothetical’s)
I would have had him 3 years ago, but as Alex has said he is well past it and is constantly injured.
If we were to bring in a cheap halfback in order to help young Sam (and possibly Myler) then what about Brent Sherwin from Cas. I think he is a very under rated player. don’t know anything about his availability mind.
Mind you, I would be very happy if we were to forget about Myler and just try and sign Rangi Chase from Cas. Class act that lad

What we thinking then if we signed Myler and Deacon-
6-Deacon
7-Myler
9-Leuluai
17-Sam/McIlorum
To sign 2 halfbacks would seem a long shot even if Riddell wanted out(which i don't think will happen).
I think we should go all out for Myler tbh. If we can get the right quality of prop forward in and maybe keep Coley that will help the fact that we'll have a couple of inexperienced halfbacks in the 17.
