ok then

the basic idiots guide to scouting systems..............

the club will have a number of scouts in various places around the country and to some extent , the world

these scouts will watch both amateur junior and possibly open age games with semi professional (lower leagues) and full timers ,

so at this stage , we have a network of spies watching as many games as possible at as many levels as possible

when these scouts identify a player they think have potential they will inform the club that player X is one to watch for a while

after a certain period of time , this could be months by the way , somebody further up the clubs scouting system will watch player X and report back to the club again

this process will be escalated up the clubs food chain so to speak , untill it gets to the people who matter , ie the coaching staff / management

so at this point , dependant on the players age etc , some sort of approach will be made to either the players family or if he has one , agent / advisor

in a nutshell , i would say thats it

All this talk of it not being his team etc is really starting to annoy.

How many players out of the squad has Nathan Brown signed? Yet they have come on leaps and bounds under him, the first try yesterday was outstanding. Cant remeber the last time i saw saints defence look so at sea.

Also ironicaly, Mathers is the only player Smith has signed at Warrington, but they have again come on leaps and bounds under him.

Why is it only noble who needs 1-17 to be "his signings"? If someone can please explain this too me i would be most gratefull especially with the above being taken into account.

Thank you for that. So who would have the final say in signing a player?

11 defeats in a 27 game season for the past 3 years.

That says enough for me.

No improvement.

The chairman and the head coach discuss each case in detail before a decision is made.

The guy who signs the cheques has the absolute final say, but he doesn't do it unless the coach is in full agreement.

This has been made clear to Wigan fans on a number of occasions.

if im being picky , probably the player himself

but to answer your question i would say it would be a joint decision between the men at the the top

noble would say yes , i would like / can use player X , then i would say IL would look if it was financially viable etc etc

there are two sides to this:

1) If the players had carried out Nobles game plan and what they had worked on in training, reduced the errors, got into the opposions danger area, put pressure on them whilst there, etc then they could have easily won the game.
Bilko's match review shows how we put ourselves directly under pressure by our own mistakes and let them have easy field position whilst also wasting possession when in good attacking positions.
Even in the last 10 mins when we had somehow got back to 1 score, we then hand them the ball deep in our half early in the tackle count and kill off our chance of winning. Retain the ball - and make ground against a team we had on the run and we had every chance of levelling the game. Player mistakes, not doing what they have obviously been told to do.

On the other hand;

2) We have done this far too often and especially in big occasions; Catalan Semi - blown away in a bad spell where we didn't retain possession, Leeds GF semi, blown away with poor possessions, Catalan this year - blown away due to poor possession.
When we have a good spell we don't blow the opposition away, because we don't ahve the required composure at key points in the game.

Noble says we need to learn from this, but we should have learnt from the Catalan semi, etc, There comes a time where we need to say, the players aren't learning from their mistakes so we need to change the way we teach them. Sometimes they just need a different (not necessarily a better) approach. However, as we have seen from Brown at Hudds, a good coach gets the best out of his team, and I think we have too many players who we are not getting the best from for various reasons:

Fielden, Tommy, Riddell, Gleeson, Mossop, Flash (looks a great player - and could probably have contributed earlier), Roberts,

The one player who has really improved this season is Phelps, others seem to have gone backwards e.g. Joel.

In summary, Noble is agood coach who will get us there or thereabouts, but I think it may be time for a change of coach who will wring an extra 10% out of the players and help stop us making the same mistakles.

Its time for a change, Noble should go.

Noble is already being lined up for the Celtic job next season and no doubt he could do a decent job with them but we need someone with some tactical awarness at Wigan and Noble was yet again found wanting in this department.

Riddel, Roberts and Gleeson have all been very questionable signings and this is the likely reason why we oculd not attract a player of the calbre of Carl Web.

Australian coach please.
