If you were a professional commentator for Sky and, like Eddie, Stevo and everyone else who appears on screen, had to hide your allegiance in the interests of impartiality - no matter how professional you are, and no matter how good you were at hiding it normally, can you honestly say you would not have cracked during THAT performance?
Is Eddie's lack of impartiality actually not a bad thing? Would you rather have someone like Clive Tyldesley, who did 'Rugby League Live' for Granada in the 80s, who doesn't know or care anything about the sport? Now he WAS shocking - and no one complained about him when he had orgasms over Man U scoring the two, last minute goals against Bayern Munich, did they? Or Harry Carpenter, when Frank Bruno momentarily (almost) put Mike Tyson on his backside?
For all his faults, at least Eddie loves his RL.
That's true although inbetween his dislike for Wigan it's usually Danny McGuire who gets his praise rather than it being all St.Helens ...
MCGUIRE! MCGUIRE! MCGUIRRRRRE FOR LEEDS! SENSATIONAL! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
And Danny McGuire may just be picking his nose at the side of the scrum
