It was a great win Stu but you seem to want to keep going over old ground about Wigan fans saying Penrith maybe didn't treat the game as seriously as they could have. Even when people admit their preparation for this year seems much the same, it's not helping you get over the fact that people may think that about last year. If you don't believe it, then that is absolutely fine but I'm not sure what you want. If it is every single person to admit Penrith were 100% on their game and treated it as they would an NRL GF, you'll be waiting a long time.
Going round in circles here..
I've said numerous times on this very forum that they would beat us 9 times out of 10. We probably did take it a lot more seriously than they did. However by the same token I don't buy for one minute that they are ultra-serious this year given their preparation. Yet we were told when the game was announced that if Wigan win it would be a much bigger achievement than our Buster Douglas beating Tyson analogy given by sergeant pepper.

You're falling into the trap of caring what Wigan fans think about a Saints trophy again

To be fair you do have a few missing I'll give you that.
If we win tomorrow it won't eclipse Saints win because we are at home and I've absolutely zero issues admitting that.
I like to be honest with myself you see. Now if we do win, I'll claim it as a great win, against a side with loads of advantages but a side who could've done more in their preparation for the match.

If we win tomorrow I will put this third behind Brisbane Away and Manly Home.
Above Penrith at Anfield and Cronulla at home, only because they are a better and more successful team than the above two.

Agree with all that.
We're up against it tomorrow. To highlight how good Saints win was last year, I think that is probably giving us a bit more confidence of a win than we'd usually have against this Penrith team because they're that good and even not fully on, it takes an incredible effort to beat them. You just never know what can happen though in a one off game like this. It should be a great day.

I feared we'd get tonked in last year's Grand Final. That was based on early season collapses against Catalan. But in the Final itself, I thought the Dragons were lucky we didn't score several more tries. We really ran into form on that day.
The same can happen tomorrow.
I don't expect it will ... not to the extent where we beat Penrith, because they are a serious cut above Catalan, but if we can at least get every motor revving, as we did in the Final, we ought to be able to give them a game.
I feel that's the best we can hope for. But taking the St George WCC, for example ... while we lost, I still enjoying it because we gave it such a dig.
So long as we don't get annihilated, tomorrow should be a great occasion.
