But if the 5 players They HAD to pick from Wigan were in similar positions to where you also have strong players i.e picking Gleeson over Gidley, it doesn't mean we think Gleeson is better than Gidley, Just that Gleeson could be considered one of OUR best 5 players.
I think it's a pointless excercise and would have been better if for example he said you had to keep 10/11 players from the existing team and improve it with 6 from others, although as you will see I don't think it needs to be that Drastic!
Surely a more realistic turnover in numbers of players???? I'm basing mine on keeping 10 Wigan players!
Webb (Like Greenshield too I just think Webb has the edge)
Ainscough
Gleeson
Carmont
Richards
Pryce/Bosc (Dependant on what the Judge thinks!)
S Tomkins
Graham
Riddell
Peacock
O'Loughlin
Pulateau
J Tomkins
Feka
Roby
Hock
Prescott
The ones in Bold again aren't necessarily the Best players in the country in those positions but given experience/time I think they could grow into Very Useful SL players & maybe even international in Tomkins/Ainscough's case!
TBH If you look it's mainly Front row where the problem lies!
If we had those 2 x front rowers (Or 2 of equal staure/ability) then it wouldn't matter too much to put Roberts on the wing, Richards Full Back, Lulu on Bench instead of Roby and Hansen instead of Pualteau (Although I think Pulateua is obviously far better/intimadating etc) meaning we had 14 Current Wigan players in the team.

Main Point is, were 2 x 50/60 min Front rowers and a 6 Short of being a Very Good team!
Something I'm sure you'll agree with and something I told Mr Leneghan Last November!
