prop theres a few world class props coming off contract..luke bailey for one
Luke Bailey fits the criteria very well, would give us experience, leadership and would make them hard yards
Is Myler off contract?
Doubt Salford will want to let him go
Would be a great addition although I don't like the idea of having a very inexperienced pairing in the halves eventhough they would be amazing a year or 2 down the line

I doubt he would want to stay at Salford. Got in a Enlgand squad last year and probably would want to further his career.
And would the money gained from Bailey, Smith, Phelps and Coley. Cover the cost of a World class prop and a World class Stand off

Well if it doesn't I don't see where all the money is. IL claims we're restricted due to the salary cap well by 2010 the entire squad will be Brian Noble's and by 2011 they will be his - where is the money going? Who is the stand out big earner in that squad apart from Stuart Fielden?
Cameron Phelps should leave at the end of the season - he's not good enough to warrant a quota spot. Sean Ainscough proved that last night.
Andy Coley has not been good enough and in truth was a stupid signing to make in the first place. Average at best.
Tim Smith is just a complete liability in defense and is too hit and miss in attack. I doubt any NRL club would want him though.
Phil Bailey has just not been good enough. He's the perfect example of an average Australian stealing a living at Wigan. He's just Mr Average. Solid in defense and others nothing in attack and has a poor go forward. Why did we sign him? We're blessed with second row forwards we don't need to be wasting a quota spot.
Also I'll add to that list Richie Mathers. I don't think I need to justify the reasons why he should go. Why we extended his contract in the first place I'll never know.
So IMO recruitment for 2010 we should be looking at bringing in experienced players to help create that right balance of youth and experience & bring in some clever rugby league players.
We need an experienced prop forward who will run his blood to water week in week out. Andy Lynch at Bradford would fit the bill if we didn't want to use a quota spot. Luke Bailey being another.
We need a stand off that can direct the team and share the responsibility with Thomas Leuluai. Matt Orford IMO fits this description. He's an experienced leader who would be ideal.
We don't need a fullback IMO because I'd move Pat to fullback with Roberts and Ainscough on the other wings with Pryce at cover. Goulding and Carmont in the centres. Although if we were going to go for a fullback I'd go for either Anthony Minichello or Karmichael Hunt.

Matt Orford could turn out to be another Phil Bailey. He is nearly 31, would want a rather large salary, could just be looking for a holiday, although if he did come to play rugby instead of a holiday he would be a great addition and it would be great for him to partner and mentor Sam Tomkins in the halves
I think Tommy should be used at hooker permanently next season. I think he plays his best stuff in that position. This would also mean Sam Tomkins can move into the side.
If we could get a quality, experienced half back to partner Sam and move Tommy to hooker with either Riddell or McIlorum and we could be on to a winner
As for a full back this would probably keep 2 of Ainy, Pryce and Goulding out the side which unless we could get rid of one (definitely not Ainscough and I doubt Pryce would go if he gets his fitness up) I wouldn't want it to happen

All the players mentioned are overseas though, lets play Tomkins and some of our other young players and then maybe get one overseas player with experience.

Tommy is a 9 IMO and he should stay there and only cover 6/7 if injuries occur. Get sam playing a few games this year than if good enough make him a starting 7.
We SHOULD have 3 quota spots available at the end of the season (Phelps, Smith, Bailey).
We should use one on a experiance NRL stand off to play alongside Sam (I would be very happy with a Matt Orford type player)
We should use another to get a prop top class experiance one who'll be with us for at least 3 seasons. He should replace Coley. Luke Bailey would be ideal.
Not sure about the final quota spot. Any ideas?
So at the end of the season it'll be:
In: Matt Orford and Luke Bailey (just examples)
Out: Smith, Phelps, Phil Bailey ,Coley and Mathers.
I expect Carmont to sign for one more year aswell.
This side is alot more balanced than the current team.
Ive used Bailey and Orford cause its better than having World Class ,,, all the time

That would be a damn good side
Definitely agree with Tommy as a 9
Bailey would be perfect
Orford would be good if he played to his potential
I don't think we should have the mentality 'we have one more quota spot, who can we get' we should concerntrate on bringing youngsters through and if they aren't up to it use that quota spot on a replacement for Carmont when he goes

That would be awesome and a real possiblity that is, with the money that will be freed up.
Fielden will not be a guarentee for a new contract though so we could see a big change in the pack.
