It would take Fielden and a new conditioning coach one hell of an off season to get him in shape ie size and power wise to make any telling go forward contribution to our team.
I agree we do need a new prob, but if the right persons not available now with the money we have then i will be happy going into 2010 with the squad we have, and a new coach and wait till 2011 when fielden and coley are off contract and we could bring in the players that we need.
I would rather go into 2010 with what we've already got, than have Lenegan rush a signing to please the fans short term and miss out on something special in 2011.

A new coach and a prop forward and we can win something next season imo. They'd both have to be top quality but the knock on effect they'd both have on the rest of the squad would be huge and we could get 4 or 5 totally different levels of preformence from certain players.
One thing is for sure i don't think Leeds and Saints have quite that aura about them anymore. They're still the best 2 teams in the comp and probably will be in 2010 but teams like Hudds, Hull KR, Wire and hopefully us will rapidly close the gap next season.

I think Wakey, Cas, Quins, Bradford and Hull can have something to say about that as most of them have improved or just need to be a bit more consistent.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

We will have Fieldens money for 2011 though.
I dont believe we are up to the cap for 2010, if so, perhaps we cant afford to spend the full cap anymore?
The regular references to being at or very near the cap by IL could just be a tactic. We were told we had about 20k left last year and then signed Phelps and Smith. We were told there was little left this season then signed Gleeson (who is surely on more than Mathers was). We have been outbid for players recently. If we play down available resources and give the impression of not having much it may deter rivals from bidding as highly against us. It may also allow us to pursue any targets we do have under less scrutiny from others as we are not seen as a club with cash on the hip and a massive wage hole to fill.
I may be wrong but either way I wouldn't be too concerned about how much cap space we have or don't have left. As for the lack of talk of transfer targets by the club I'd much rather have fans, media and other clubs not know we were after player X, Y or Z and everyone find out about it when a deal is completed than it be public knowledge and we lose out in a bidding war or pay over the odds.
James Graham all ready signed for Wigan next season before (or after) smacking Potter in changing rooms after the Catalan game. I have no sources other than word of mouth so believe what you want.
