I agree with you, no interest in football never have to be honest but as you say the numbers involved are ridiculous and at some point it has to reach the end, could it be bar the top flight this is a sign of things to come for the lower leagues?

Whelan's Supermarkets sold JJB Sport Sold Wigan Athletic and DW Stadium Sold
Not to mention other of his purchases like Pooles Pies, Wrightington Country Club, Charnock Richard Golf Club/Figaro's Restaurant etc, etc
All added to Uncle Dave's Pension Fund in Barbados!
Don't panic, our Lisa will come to the rescue!
Then buys them back cheap, he has sold latics down the river with who he sold it to. And will now buy it back and become the saviour. And be seen as the hero.
The statement by Whelan only proves that he could see the way the club was heading long before the virus and it is the reason why he sold the Latic's and the Stadium.
Like I have said before, Whelan has always has known the right time to sell any of his businesses.
Is his statue on the list of statues to be toppled by the idiots?

I don’t think he can be seen any other way by Latics fans to be honest. Equally can you blame him for getting out? It’s shrewd business move and ultimately that’s what he is. Personally I just can’t see him re buying the club, it’s common knowledge a sports team is typically a loser financially, it doesn’t make business sense to get back involved and it’d be purely sentimental.
It’s all very very dodgy. Took over a week ago and ownership confirmed on 30/06 and go into administration the next day? The EFL have a lot to answer for here. It smacks of incompetence bordering corruption for me.
As I’ve said before I’m no Latics lover or supporter but the way this has gone down is utterly deplorable.
I think Whelan and/or buyers will wait and see what happens with relegation. The club will be much cheaper to buy if they drop down a division. That would certainly appeal to buy low sell high Whelan.

Any different than the way the EFL treated Bury and other clubs.
I will be very surprised if Whelan buys back the club when some time ago, he said that many smaller clubs would go to the wall and could see how the finances and attendances has started to go down at the club.
As for MP Lisa Nandy, she will do nothing apart from say things she has been fed by certain people connected with the Latic's management running the club.
