Phuzzy wrote:Dave, none of that makes sense. As usual on this subject you've just read what you wanted in order to make your point. A) I never said Tommy was a bad captain...
So when you say:
"Which fully supports the point I have been making regarding O'Loughlin's captaincy. ...However, the fact that the 'next best' candidate at the club presided over this debacle shows that
there is no-one else at the club capable of taking the armband
You were not implying any criticism of TL's captaincy?
The point I was making was even if TL was a poor captain it says nothing about Lockers captaincy one way or the other.
Quote:I don't know whether he is or not. B) He was the designated 2nd choice and presided over a debacle. C) I have yet to hear a viable alternatve from all the posters who claim O'Loghlin shouldn't be captain, and that includes you!
I am not sure which coach would replace Noble either but it does not invalidate my opinion it is time for him to leave does it? Likewise just because you may argue there is no viable alternative to Lockers captaincy that is no reason to leave things as they are either. As to alternatives, TL is never one that ever crossed my mind. Of current players Fielden is the obvious choice IMO but while IL is recruiting if I were him I'd be looking for a leader as well.
Quote:D)I have no idea whether TL was or wasn't 'leading by example', or more to the point, whether the players were responding to it as I wan't there. Neither were you! I am fairly sure, however, without needing to be there that whatever he did as captain was ultimately ineffectual as the result shows.
Well as you weren't there coming to any conclusion is rather rash don't you think? You can only speculate as I can and
if he was leading by example and the players did not respond that would back up what I have been saying all along and that is there are times when leading by example is not good enough. That, if you had not worked it out, was what was behind my question about was he leading by example.
Quote:I think, therefore, that it isn't unreasonable to make the conclusion that the current team are collectively responsible...unless of course you're the sort of person who prefers to find a scapegoat and place all the blame on them, in which case it was all TL's fault!
I can see you are doing your usual and putting words into my mouth so you can argue against something I never said. If TL adopted Lockers approach to captaincy I could well imagine it being ineffective. However to suggest that I would therefore be singling out as a scape goat for the loss if that were the case is ridiculous.
Quote:Please enlighten me as to who this mythical character at the club is, who would impact so strongly on the team that they would, at a stroke, eliminate the kind of debacle we had yesterday, if only they were made captain. I, and I'm sure many more people including Nobby, would hail you as a God if you can answer that one!
There you go again making up a point to argue about. Where have I ever suggested there is anyone who "would impact so strongly on the team that they would, at a stroke, eliminate the kind of debacle we had yesterday"? I have not. So the above paragraph is irrelevant isn't it!
It is quite possible even with Faz like character as captain we would have lost. That doesn't mean it would not be preferable to have had such a person as captain does it?
Quote:P.S please do me the honour of actually answering this question as, whenever I have asked it in the past you have skirted over it and made other facetious comments instead. All my points I will concede at a stroke if you can actually come up with an answer to this one question. Somehow I suspect, once again, you won't.
And I suspect you will, as you always do, continue make things up so you can argue with yourself. As you have done here.
When did you ask me in the past who this mythical character was ? Had you done so you would have got the same reply as above. I have never suggested there is such a person who would have such an effect but that doesn't stop you indulging in a half page post having a go at me for something I have never said
