We were shocking tonight but still the players are all better than the level they are performing at imo.
We’ve had a settled-ish team for a few weeks now and they just don’t seem to be either clicking or improving week in week out. Look at the Quins game for example as proof of how we seemed to have gone backwards over recent weeks.
I do honestly think we need freshen up the whole coaching staff at Wigan and bring in a coach who is not only a motivator but also someone who can develop players into better ones that they already are.
I honestly don’t think there is one member of our backroom staff who I have faith in and think oh yeah once x gets to work on them we’ll see massive improvements like Anderson did with Roby, Graham, Gardner and Hargreaves or Smith and Mcleanan did with Smith, JJB, Sinfield or Ellis etc.
Lets not get into the trap of thinking that our players are now somewhat usless or crap cause they aren’t I’d still even after tonight take every single Wigan player bar B.Hodgson over the Hudds players. The difference was the Hudds players are playing better than the actually are where we are doing the complete opposite.
Still think tho with new prop, directional playing SH and a new creative right centre we will see massive improvements in our game.

In previous weeks I would of agreed but now I think 2 props are needed as well as a SH and a decent centre and I am prepared to get slated for this but I think a new coach as well.
To be so inconsistent and poor at doing the basics for this long is disgraceful and the main reason for this IMO is poor coaching. It has simply not been good enough. Poor coaching combined with poor recruitment, an average pack and no leadership is not the recipe for success
There needs to be a serious clear out before we see any sort of consistency to make us a decent side
After watching the Saints v Leeds game last week, you can't fail to be impressed by how organised Saints look in attack. They broke through the Leeds line at will sometimes - their use of the dummy runner is superb.
We are a million miles away from these levels.
We need to recruit a top class Aussie coach who can drag us to the top of the table.
However, Lenagan will no doubt not see this, I bet he goes for Brian McDermott.
Fielden, as much as I have hoped and prayed that the man who was my favourite SL player when at Bradford, who I was so amazed we signed, is gone, finished and will never ever reach resonable standard again.
O'Carroll & Prescott are admirable but are both to lightweight and wet behind the ears to do the job.
Coley, although much improved for the last few games, is someone who should be nowhere near a side wanting to win things.
Feka, our main go forward, which in itself highlights the problem, our pack should be in a position that when he comes on, he blows the opposition away, not he comes on and we might for once make more than a few metres in a drive.
Bailey in the centre is no use in relation to getting Roberts the ball, but he is helping protect Tomkins and is a much more stable option than either Goulding/Phelps.
Ainscough & Tomkins were poor, but last night will help them.
Carmont is playing like a man with a secure future.
Tommy, Riddell & McIllorum are okay, but a team with 3 hookers and no #7 isn't that well balanced.
Smith - we need him in attack but he costs us more than he creates in defence.
Hock is doing all he can, Lockers & Hansen really need to do something to help him in attack and Joel looks a shadow of the player he was last year.
Noble, I still back him, I don't see any sense at this point of sacking him. Nobody is available who I would want to take the job but the incosistency is becoming unacceptable. That being said, last night, Hudds got away with the worst spoiling display I have ever seen and Bentham let them, every call went with them and there is nothing you can do to argue that.
IL, either let Noble sign exactly who he wants, or sack him and appoint a coach who can work with the players you think are good enough. Stop the jobs for the boys club and appoint a proven back room staff. A "part time skills coach" - WHY EVEN BOTHER.

Good post mate
Disagree about Eamon and Prescott though
Though PP was good last night and is going to be a cracking player. Eamon has been really good this season and at only 21 is only going to get better. Replace Fielden and Coley with 2 top class props (an Asotasi type player with someone else who will be a workhorse for us maybe Lynch) and we would see the best of both of them.
A centre is desperately needed. Soliola or Joel Reddy look like the only available options.
We are lacking a controlling SH. TL isn't that player. Dobson would be perfect but not available for at least another season.
Mathers, Phelps, Smith, Coley, Fielden, Bailey and maybe Goulding and Pryce (at least one of them) with McIlorum on loan would provide us with a massive chunk of the cap to go and get 4 top quality players
Joel needs to be a 13. He was far better last season as a 13 when Lockers was injured.
Lockers is an issue, an issue created by the club, he isn't a 13 and isn't a capt. The club needs to find a way to push him into the second row and take the capt off him without rocking the ship too much. He's a decent SR, nothing more.
I don't rate Hansen, so what if he does a lot of tackling? Lockers can do just as much and offer far more in attack. Lets get real, bottom line is he isn't good enough
Hock- Good at times back at others.
Riddell- Not done it. Had one good game all season to date.
Coley and Fielden-piss poor props. The front row is a concern, probably the biggest.
Tommy is a better 9 than Riddell, but is playing at 7 cos Smith can't tackle for peanuts. We need a good number 7.
Bailey, not playing at centre cos he's good, playing there cos Phelps and Goulding are cr@p. Not a good way to pick a starting player, but it's the truth.
I'm not bashing the players, but why are we surprised when we lost to Hudders? Cos we overrated such players.

Exactly, but que the Goulding fan club on here defending him to the hilt. As for Hansen, absolutely spot on, he offers so little going forward its embarrasing.

They will become top props, but in the environment we have them in currently its doing them more bad than good.
