Any other team would have lost to Wigan tonight Saints defence this year is awesome
Great game
I think we'll be there or there abouts, we dominated the game for 60 mins then our kicking game let us down to allow Saints to build their momentum from half way to score their quick tries. We should have won the game, but the team who usually comes out on top in October has the uncanny ability to win games they shouldn't.
I watched the game on tv and I'm sorry but I didagree entirely with all the posters saying how well Wigan played. The old Wigganers must have held their heads in shame to see how the team has turned into one of the most cheating, ref whinging teams and plain dirty-tricks shower, that has ever had the misfortune to slip into a shirt. If you get a decent coach who teaches them how to pass backwards, stop the dirty tricks (shown up well in the video of the game) then maybe we will see the old style Wiggan that knew how to win a game using their skill, expertise to let the neitrals enjoy a fast flowing game that is a pleasure to watch. grannyfan Cindy

I think Wigan have to take a lot of positives out of the game. Much improved defensive effort and the youngsters coming through are future England stars. Ainscough was outstanding last night.
They may be a "mid table" team at the moment but the future looks a little brighter. With better finishing last night Wigan would have won comfortably.

Sad state for Wigan. Has been for circa 10 years now.
It's a "step in the right direction..."

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

I know it's Bank Holiday, but perhaps you should have brought your tablets with you when the let you out for the weekend. Never mind, the doctors will be open again Tuesday.

..and to be fair to the Saints fans, most on here are saying the same thing. Now if only we could persuade them to give us the 2 points...

I applaud the honesty from the wigan fans who are dissapointed with last nights defeat.
Yes, I thought Wigan huffed and puffed but all this "the derby is back" love in is making me puke.
It wasnt a good game last night, Saints looked jaded( and who can blame us), didnt really fire in attack, and I cant remember the last time we lost the ball so much.
Despite this we showed how top sides win.
Defensively saints put in a good performance against a team that lets face it has very little in the way of attacking ideas and took our chances well.
Despite what many wigan fans hope and pray - saints are rebuilding Wigan are STILL going backwards.
You have a smattering of talented youngsters but they will struggle under the weight of expectation and reliance on them unless you sign more quality.
I cant understand why the purse strings were loosened to buy gleeson now when they stayed firmly shut when Barrett left.
3 wins from 9 including one win against a promoted team and the gifted win at Harlequins isn't progress.

Leeds would have put 30 past you last night. Even when we went 12-6 up i just knew that we weren't going to win. All that field position and sweet f a to show for it...
