I agree that they are the toughest sportsmen in the world. But when you are a professional sportman you will be scrutinised from fans.



FWIW, I liked Phelps last year and I like the effort and commitment he shows, I just didn't think he had a great game. Deal with it.

Few basic errors but that could be put down to confidence and ring rust so to speak, generally impressed with him tonight linked well entered the line at the right time caused Saints some problems. If you could cross him and Pat you would have a very good fullback.

Jonh Great post mate at last someone who actually looks at the game he did well and would be a very good squad player for us and can play in other positions too. How you can pick on a player who turned up is beyond me I totally agree with people having ago if a player consitanly does not perform but Phelps from what ive seen gives it 100% all of the time

I agree with that, he didn't look confortable dealing with kicks and his decision making was poor.

Ok, but just because someone plays the game doesn't make them immune from criticism from the fans. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Personally not a fan of Phelps but tonight he offered more in attack than Richards.



Made a few errors in defence but his link play in the line was something we have not seen in a long time at Wigan.



He may well earn a new deal yet with performances like tonight.

TBH Saints didnt really break our line for us to see what hes like in defence, but he did well in attack.



Still dont think hes worth a quota spot though. And would rather have kept Colbon

Agreed, his link play was excellent, a good attacking fullback performance.



FB would seem to be a position he enjoys alot more than wing/centre.
