I heard some shocking stories about how he used to rip into the lads when he was at Sale on the training ground or in social situations when he felt the team was behaiving in an unprofessional way, and i heard from some of the same people this did not often make him popullar in the dressing room but you knew who was boss.
I think his public personna and his professional rugby characters are 2 poles apart in truth.
And that’s why he's been such a success. I keep going on about standards at Wigan but Robinson cut he's early rugby teeth in a Wigan side that expected and demanded the highest standards in regards to Rugby.
It's hardly any surprise that once you've played and achieved successes in that environment you won't settle for anything else! An interesting fact as well if you’ve ever read Martin Johnsons auto bio he mentions the first time he trained with Robinson for England apparently Robinson won the players respect that first training session due to just how committed, fit and how good his technical skills were compared to others. Apparently he was the first one at training and really put in a performance.
Shame the same standards aren't being set in the Cherry and White now.
