As bazdev says, Nathan Brown will give him a chance. He had a meeting with Nathan at the end of last season to discuss where he stands and was told that he has got just as much a chance as anybody else.
Brown doesn't see Lance as a 6 so I would think Gaskell will be preferred over Lance. Wheeler is still an option too though and on his day is probably the most talented half at Saints but as we've seen he is very injury prone. Gaskell was almost ready to leave Saints due to his involvement in 2012 but NB talked him round so he obviously sees something in him.
