Does anybody on here know how much George has been offered? Or what he's after? Or if he's been offered a 1 + 1 but wants a 2? Or if he wants a 1 + 1 but the club will only offer a flat 1? Or the details of any medical reports on George? Or the expected recovery time of any surgery? Or the risk of failure of any surgery?
NO. So lets stop asuming/blaming/accusing/presuming.
Don't come here stateing the bleedin obvious..... Will confuse people.....

We have absolutely no idea what Carmont is looking for as a deal, but it would be extremely silly not to consider his age as factor in the contract being offered.
Hang on a minute. The poster said we should fire off players when they reach 30. I think that is plain daft. Things like performance, fitness and current ability should take presidence over age when deciding whether to keep a player at the club. Getting rid of a good player who consistently performs simply because he happens to have turned 30 makes about as much sense as a bag of frogs.

Now that the coaching situ has been settled, it's amazing to sit here and watch as certain groups of Wigan fans slowly but surely manufacture the next club crisis - without knowing anything about George Carmont's medical reports, his wages demands, who we may have got lined up to replace him, etc.
Truly amazing.
Why don't we just wait until we actually KNOW something?

Is true... But read what Bridger wrote... Is not as cut and dried as you might think either... Truth is that MM will probably be making the decision.
It used to be said that "You never get a pension at Wigan", We need to keep it fresh... BTW I'm a massive fan of George Carmont.... Been our most consistant player for some time..

Actually I think the point I'm making is very cut and dry. You don't get rid of a good player just because he turns 30. I'm not talking about anyone in particular here.

Surely the wage and the rest of the team must come into play though!
I would not want us to sign Lockyer or a player like that now as it would hold back Sam Tomkins but in the situation we are in now, Menzies or an old prop to play in our young pack would be perfect, signing players is so situational you cannot just make comments like "oh we should sign such a person" or "he is too old we cannot sign him".
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Same thing. The only difference being the player has played for the team before and may fit in better, you must still consider all the same things.

So you agree to throw someone out purely based on age is insane?
