Bit naughty, but he was only about 10 at the time. No one got hurt, made a few golfers happy and the bar did well out of it. Surprised no-one thought it odd the spate of holes in one
Me my brother and some other local lads when we were aged about 10 and going to St Cuthberts, 'nicked' the ball when then international golfer Neil Coles played an exhibition match there.
We got chased into Dean wood, but we were quick in those days. It must have been around 1964.

He's just rung the club and asked for it back please.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery.......
I will look to the moment, and miraculously, the future will take care of itself.

IIRC my brother cut into it to see what it was made of. They used to wrap elastic band into a ball and covered a sticky gelatinous centre with the band. All covered by the white plastic cover.
All the kids used to carry knives, but no-one ever thought of using them for fighting with in those days.
Andy Gregory was at the Haydock presentation and did a Q and A afterwards. As you can imagine it wasn't exactly Frost Nixon and things ended up like this.
Smart booty 1 - How bigs Ellery Hanleys member?
Gregory - Absolutley flipping massive
Smart booty 2 - How's bigs your member?
Gregory - Just behind Ellerys
Had me in stitches and also.
Smart booty 2 - What do you think of the double?
Gregory - Jack Daniels please mate
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.
