I agree we looked more threatening but I thought they got the better of the arm wrestle for long parts and made more meters in the forwards and had better field position.

Phenomenal performance at both ends of the pitch. A proper final performance. Did what we needed to at the right times and kept the intensity going until the 80th minute. We ARE the greatest SL era team no matter what any other fan says, the history book proves them wrong. To a man last night, they were all outstanding. Smith, French, Thompson, Havard just to name a few but i have to give a big rap to Adam Keighran too. I thought he was superb last night in both facets of the game. The jury on him was out for me half way through the season but he has properly got into the groove in the second half of the season. Walters (though didn't play) has started making strides and Leeming got better and better as the season went on. Half way through the season i thought only Thompson was living up to being a Wigan starter but they have all shown they are well worthy and i am more than happy to be proved wrong. Let's hope they keep the bit between their teeth and go again and want to do it again next season.

Marshall dropped a walk in try and Wardle bumbled another try.

The game wasn't as close as the score line suggests.

I didn't really understand the disallowed try in the first half either. Thompson was pinged for offside but he didn't seem to be anywhere near the ball.

Technically he was (just) within the 10m of the ball when it landed even though he was doing absolutely nothing to effect the play in any way, he even stopped and held his position when he realised he could be within the 10.One of those daft rules that really needs looking at.

I'd always assumed, it seems wrongly, that in that situation, the 10 m was measured 'as the crow files', the distance between the players in question, but is it 10 m measured along the pitch?

I think they are changing that rule before next season (I think I read that a few weeks back anyway).

It ruined what was an incredible finish by Marshall.

He looked confident that he'd got it down. Did TV ever show proof that he did? I tried to pause it on the BBC highlights yesterday but was probably a split second too late and at that point both the ball and his other arm were down, with his non ball carrying arm being in touch (I do think the ball may well have got down first though).

He certainly wasn't within the 10. When watching it live I thought the referee had penalised Wardle. That rule could be applied to every kick downfield.

It is a pity that the Sky action didn't show it in slow motion. My view, and I was sitting in the South Stand, is that Marshall scored.
