Really like this, it is great to see us supporting a brilliant local charity such as The Brick. With this now, along with the Charity shirt and all the stuff the players do with them, it seems like we have a really good relationship going with The Brick.
Even if 1-2 years time if we make a new partnership for the stadium name, i would like to see one of the stands be named after The Brick to keep the support going.
My first thoughts were that everyone would be on board with this, even the empty headed element of Latics fans but I was massively wrong. I had a browse around social media and on the fans forum and the usual suspects are up in arms and even some of the more sensible ones aren't chuffed. As I always say, I support both clubs, so I don't say this from a biased point of view but an element of Wigan Athletic fans are an embarrassment. To think you could be that bitter about the rugby club that you would find fault in both clubs helping support a charity that is trying to help people in your own town is pretty staggering. If they'd rather keep it named after a out of business sports shop, pushed on the clubs by their former owner, you wonder if they'll accept anything that Danson and co do.

The good news is that they won't have any choice in the matter. Though they can choose to go and support someone else, which would be a blessing on the whole town.
Yeah I've seen a few of them seeing their ar$e over it. Whelan delivered them Premier League football and an FA Cup so you can understand them wanting to maintain his legacy to an extent. Times change though, he's not the owner, and he hasn't coughed up any coin since he sold them to dodgy owners, not even when they nearly folded twice. IMO it is time to move on. They can keep his statue.
I imagine the bitterest of the Tickles will never come round to any arrangement that doesn't see them as top dog in town. Plenty others, hopefully the majority, are more reasonable and will move past this pretty quickly and appreciate the stability Danson is offering them
Over on Latics speyk the regular knuckledraggers didnt seem to appreciate me pointing out that no longer having the stadium named after someone with an FA Conviction for racism and who had flogged the club to some chinese money launderers and started the slide into bankruptcy was a good thing.
If only we could take the statue down of the meglomaniac Whelan and replace it with Billy Boston,Game,Set and Match I would think. Speaking to a almost sensible Tics fan he said that the Tics were 3 days from going under when Danson bought them and they should be grateful that he did,as he was. I am not against Latics as I have 0% interest in them but to be truthful I wish they were not in our Stadium the way they carry on with their spiteful behaviour.

Oh you mean that Paul Kendrick the well known Latics fan who writes endless columns about Tics and not so much about RL. Danson owns the lot and is a RL fan first .
