If someone would have said 3 months back I'd be delighted that we had extended Mago's stay I'd have thought you were made but his recent performances have shown what he is capable of and if he can translate that into a full season of high level performances its a no brainer. If he falls into his old ways he plays reserve team rugby and we let him go next year

I look at the type of forwards we have and there are plenty of high energy, big minute props and having some impact from the bench is ideal alongside those. He’s been fantastic recently, one of the best forwards in the league, so that version brings loads to us. A years deal, with the option of a second keeps him on his toes.
Something has changed and it is not just Mago’s form. Somebody in the higher echelons of.the club said he would be on his way, it makes me think that another deal has fallen through.

I was also told Mago would be leaving so I agree that something has changed very recently.
To be fair to Mago I’ve seen him at Total Fitness a few times so he’s obviously been putting in the extra work for a while now, training individually in addition to what they do at the club.

I have thought this too, but with the Isa signing.
Personally, I can't see why the club wouldn't have looked for experienced recruits to blend with what we have.

Thats my feeling too, I can see the logic for Isa more clearly, we have 2nd rows Farrell (ageing), Walters, Nsemba (both inexperienced, Shorrocks(?) and no clear reserve to start in the first team next year - Beardsworth may kick on but later in the season.
I'm happier with the Mago extension, based on recent form, but there are a lot of props coming through, if Mago doesn't perform he will be in the reserves.

His improvement in recent weeks is from an exceptionally low bar and he hasn’t exactly ripped up any trees in his performances. I’ve seen comments where he’s been “exceptional”, “great”, “massive”. I’d say he’s been adequate and still incapable of doing decent minutes. I will be exceptionally pleased if he makes me eat my words but he has a long way to go to change my opinion.
I was lucky enough to be stood next to Will at the Saints away match. He's a proper cheeky little chappy but absolutely hilarious at the same time. Had me in tears of laughter at one point. Cracking lad.
