Yes he did 2 seasons but early into second season he asked to move. Nzw found a replacement and his return was announced. He did not play a season worth of games. Cannot hide that they were excepting Slater type finished player but did not justify the money. He had hype going there but and did not live up to it. James Graham and Sam Burgess went to the NRL with less hype but became star players when you measure what Sam Tomkin's did then he has to be close if not No1.

Now did he go to the right clubv now that is another matter.

Whether he is the 'worst ever' is debatable, but in recent memory he has to be up there - the Warriors had so much expectation and were paying top top dollar 'the million dollar man' is what he was hyped as - he clearly hasn't delivered based on his price tag.
In his first season, he didn't stink the house out like he did his 2nd, but he was nothing more than average either - average in attack and poor in defence - not what you'd expect from a top dollar signing. A young kid could have come in and reasonably be expected to replicated Tomkins first season.

So whilst he may not necessarily be 'the worst ever', in terms of value for money, or return on investment, he's certainly gonna rank right near the top for worst.

Welcome home Sam. Couldn't care less what the Aussies think. Touch of anti-pom bias methinks.

You are valued and loved here. I'll never forget the five try debut, the long range efforts against Wire in the Cup and Saints at the Etihad and dozens of others. There will be more great efforts to come over the next few years. I didn't want any other player in the NRL to become our marquee player. Couldn't be happier.

CRINGE..... Are you Phil Clarke?

Seriously though, I don't think it's anti-pom bias, it's all based on expectation and his price tag.

It will be interesting to see how he goes this year, he could regain some confidence and return to his pre-NRL form, but you've got to admit, there's just as much of a chance that he won't... Watch this space I suppose... His performances for England against the kiwis might give us a better understanding of which version of Tomkins you've got.

No. Just someone who has enjoyed watching him and admired his skills over the years. It's players like Sam that make watching Rugby League enjoyable. He may not be the greatest player since Ellery but he's certainly given the most enjoyment IMHO.

He went OK for the Warriors IMO and I watched virtually all of his performances. He ultimately picked the wrong club and should have gone to Sidney. Also, again IMO, he wasn't helped by the fact that the team - particularly Johnson - seemed to be trying their best to ignore him. The number of times he made himself available in attack and was ignored was ridiculous. He had a chance to play HB when Johnson got injured but they went with an untried kid and paid the price. Incidentally, it's funny how Johnson's injury is just an injury, yet Sam got hurt because he could not stand the pace.
Finally, as good as Slater was (could be past it now) he has had his fair share if injuries plus has made horrendous mistakes. Still, to point this out would be to move away from the real agenda, wouldn't it?

Correct JJ. In fact, take a look at the stats from Sam's first season, and his compare very well with both Billy Slater and Greg Inglis. So, hardly disastrous.

I'm not going to be too concerned if he doesn't do much in the test series. Even at his peak when he was absolutely tearing it up in SL he was underwhelming internationally IMO

Mossop has to be up there. Lots of expectation on Sam but his injury this season obviously didn't help. IMO he chose completely the wrong club to join - they must have offered him serious money...

In his first season he scored 13 tries and had 12 try assists to his name from 26 games.
Hardaker this year scored 10 tries and 6 try assists from 25 games
