I think that is how Fielden's career will go now; solid if unspectacular.
And if he offers that solidity at the right wage he'll be at Wigan 'til he hangs up his boots.

The only way he will the fans over for me (apart from getting his Bradford form back) would be taking a reduced wage sooner rather than at the end of his contract. Not likely to happen though I know.
It was great to see Fielden get rousing applause when he went to the bench in the first half. He came off, looking knackered, and as he walked past the front of the South Stand, there was great support for him from the fans. He's often the unsung hero, Fielden, as proved by his stats. I'm still not sure he's been worth the enormous fee we paid for him, but you can't blame the player for getting the best deal possible. Really pleased for him last night.

i think this lifting of the knee is aload of crap because thats just the style of fieldens running after watching fielden for a few seasons now he tends to run into ppl pushing them with his fore arms with his legs pumping cant believe he got warned over it when you have that peacock running round lamping ppl an getting away with it
Hock wiped out Godwin off the ball stupidly too, might get looked at
"Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.

I didn't make that comment as a criticism of Fielden.
That said, it does need to be at the right wage.
Realise it wasn't a criticism. Don't think we'll ever see the Fielden of Bratfut form but he continues to play as he did last night week in week out I'll be happy.
Classic prop play, all graft & effort and no glitz & glamour = a great platform for the halves and those in the 3/4 line to do the pretty stuff.
Well done Stu, carry on being a unsung hero to those who understand.

If he plays well then I dont think going for a high payed player like Lynch would be the answer, OCarrolls now shown he is a first team prop, weve got Fielden and Feka, so if Prescott shows so great form like he has done in the past then we wont need Coley and we will have 4 good props. On that basis it wouldnt seem fair dropping Prescott or OCarroll imo.
Agreed 100%, I think I posted the exact same point on this thread.
