Try England's in Pem, also a shop in Billinge
Meat from independent butchers is bound to cost more than the tasteless cack served up by the multinational faceless money generators like Tesco. Keep it local!!!

That's what i'm trying to do, but with working Mon-Fri in Manchester by the time i get home shops are closed.
That's why i thought somewhere in Wigan would have a farm shop to nip to on a Saturday morning. But looking at it, it's going to be a bit of a drive to get my veg.

Nip to Pem on a Saturday morning. There's a veg shop across the road as well I think.

If you absolutely have to buy meat from a supermarket, try to ensure it's from a meat counter where you can tell the butcher what you want. If getting it off a display shelf buy organic (for taste) and ensure you look at the meat under the main shop lights, not the undershelf lighting as, daft as it sounds, you can't see so well.
Remember, you can get rubbish from any place; go in to wherever, tell them they were recommended as they don't serve crap. Hopefully you'll then get something decent. All you have to do then is cook it without mullering it!

Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.
