I agree with this especially the bit in bold. Lam's name is often mentioned as a possible Wigan coach but why? I have never understood the fact quite a few people say they would love him back here as coach because I just don't see how he has had the coaching experience or success as a coach to warrant the appointment.

In a few years maybe when he has proved himself but not now.

The fact you mention the need for a director of rugby for him to work under means you recognise he would be learning on the job at Wigan. That is the last thing we need IMO.

We need a big name coach who will get the respect from the players.

It bugs me that the players just decided I cant be @rsed playing for this guy he is a $hit head lets get him sacked. Players who do this need be got rid of they lack the winning mentality need to meet the passion/pride of Wigan supporters. Anybody no matter who the coach or circumstances goes on the field and doesnt give 100~% to win then they are a disgrace

Id be really disapointed if he were to be given the role long term. If he steps in short term due to the sacking of Noble then fine.

I would only be happy with an expierienced Australian coach at this stage.

Some of the comments on here about Kearney not being in charge at the World Cup are ridiculous, how can anybody outside the squad have any knowledge of that?

I like Stephen Kearney, I'd have had him as Warrington coach. A couple of years back I was chatting to one of the Hull players who played in the 2005 CC, he reckoned Kearney and Kear never got on and Kearney was a massively influential figure who had a lot of respect in the squad and was effectively coaching the team during 2005 season. He was offered a backroom job but refused to work under Kear so left and went to Melbourne, from that point on Kear's position was difficult as there were senior players eg Swain who were Kearney men.

Fast forward to 2006 season with Melbourne ripping up, and there was an interview in the Aussie press with some Melbourne player who said Kearney's arrival in the backroom staff had been a huge influence there, he's this alpha character who has charisma and intelligence on the game so when he walks into a club everybody listens.

Then he takes over a Kiwi squad which was in disarray in 2007 after England smashed them 3-0, hires Bennett as his assistant and turns them around into World Cup winners.

The man has got something and I think out of young coaches he's far and away the best prospect.
