My Dad recently passed away and he was, like me, a massive Wigan Rugby fan. Albeit he lived in Devon, I'd take him to the games when he came up to visit and he was one of the 34k at the Manley game (noticed the other thread).

Does anyone know what the clubs views are on spreading Ashes on the pitch as it's something I'd like to to do to remember him by and I'm sure this is what he would've wanted.

i go in a pub and one of the lads recently died ,he was a massive leeds rl fan and his family requested if they could scatter his ashes on the headingley pitch and it was refused .
i think the reason was that they are inundated with such requests and it gets too many.
hope you are succesful

It may take some thinking about, but, spreading the ashes on a pitch which isn't ours may be something you still want to do. IMO and i stress IMO iwould think about spreading them at the Central Park memorial. You wouldn't need anyone's permission, and it may be more poignant.

I wouldnt want my ashes scattered at the jjb, the way we get messed about I can see us in our own stadium within the next 10 to 20 years anyway.

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

a lot of people spread ashes on central park over the years.

when it closed it just added to the grief.

put em in an urn on top of the telly mate.......save a lot of grief later.

Thre's a lady who sits near us who takes her husband's ashes to every match with her - that way she reckons he can still enjoy beig a Wigan fan.

i read something in a paper not long back - think all sporting venues should refuse to allow this to happen. whether they all do or not i dont know.

I've seen them bomb a quarter final, bottle a semi final, finish as league leaders, but I've still, never, seen the Wire win the league
Doom and gloom, doom and gloom

I know its a shame that can't be done now. They tear the pitch up that often at JJB that its not worth it. I don't know what the best option would be.
