I thought as many of us were a little under whelmed by the squad we started the season with and dismayed by our almost complete inability to retain players that it might be instructive to see how those who have left have got on. It seems a mixed bag.
Sammut seems to be tearing it up at Barrow - no surprise to anyone- sigh.
Sid didn’t seem to break into the Wakefield side went out to Newcastle and picked up a knock almost immediately.
Meadows has been a regular interchange for Batley. Not sure he’s scored much.
Hodson has been a regular starter for Batley
Jones has struggled to get game time at Leigh - unsurprising when considering the quality they have bought,
Chamberlain has been a regular starter for Leigh, seems to have stayed fit and done well
Moran hasn’t figgered for Newcastle for some time I think.
Boafo has played regularly for Newcastle but I don’t think he’s scored as many as one might have expected.
Hankinson has done well at Toulouse.
Ashall-Bott has done well at Toulouse although he looks a little lightweight in defence at times.
Navarette is a regular at Toulouse.
Hindmarsh and Verula seem to have left the game.
Walters was last seen at Richmond 2nds I think
Egodo is playing third tier RU I believe.
Aston struggled to get past in form players at Fax but seems to be doing alright at Sheffield- is he full time?
Fozards a regular starter with Widnes seems to be doing well- no surprise.
Ogden has been in and out of the York side. I saw him play one game and thought he’d bulked up and played well.
Richards was a regular for HKR but I don’t think he’s been in the team recently - maybe injured.
Battye was off to a flyer at Trinity but then seemed to fall out of favour back as an interchange now.
Pelissier seems to be doing Ok at Toulouse.
Turning the clock back a bit further. Butler seems to have lost his way- he looked a little heavy to me.
Dixon doesn’t seem to have settled anywhere which is a shame.
Mason doesn’t seem to get much game time. Gee seems to have been injured but when he played got good reviews.
Armitage is doing surprisingly well at TO.
Smith has done well at Rovers after a year out with injury.
Norman seems to be making progress at St Helens.

Of all the players, and who knows if they’d want to come back, Jones would be a good one to get back. Dixon obviously. Butler if he could get back to anywhere close to where he was. Meadows perhaps - I know many on here didn’t think he was the finished article but.. and If the game was in good health I can’t believe a player of Walters standard would drop out of it. We’re fishing in such a small pond now I do hope we keep tabs on ex players ...unless of course we’ve alienated them. My take was we weren’t overly generous in our offers for 2022. If that’s so I suspect that ended up being counterproductive and not saving us money in the long run. Who knows!

could be said of the players or the ground renting issues.......but without a doubt Hughes has spent considerable less this year on staff (on and off field) across the board and that will have meant his overall spend will be down too.
As for the Grounds cost issue? We've all seen the pictures of the guys training in the Bar area of our Union training hosts....I genuinely hope we are paying by the hour for these facilities and I pray to the heavens that Smithers was correct in his assertion that the 200k figure was the high end of a sliding scale and not the base figure.
