How did they ever think it was going to work ?
All the reasonable criticism and anger coalesces around this point. I’m not throwing huge sums at the club nor am I a relaunch expert so I’m shooting my mouth off here but it seems to me there are several inter-connected pillars to a successful relaunch. Of course the ground is important and it looks of the standard but equally important is the product: that is playing squad and match day experience. The ground itself is only part of that as others have said it’s how it is used. Underpinning it all is things like recruitment, fitness and conditioning, marketing, presentation, customer service, advertising sales and merchandise. Hand on heart which of those pillars have Broncos really spent much time or money on?
Orange was critical of the advertising campaign but I thought it was a reasonable loss leader to raise awareness but sadly it has to keep going (at great expense that won’t immediately be returned).
My humble suggestion is a re relaunch at a more clement time of the year when we are playing sides we can compete with. The May games look doable I’d focus some advertising on highlighting them. Sadly of course we then don’t play at home until July so we lose momentum but it is what it is
They really do need to do some type of event in the Party Zone and have some kid friendly stuff. Why no scarves, badges, flags whatever on sale. Is a programme really that difficult I reckon they’d sell 500. Sadly we need to keep going with cheap tickets as it helps to get people in and at least the atmosphere is OK and improved on last year.
But my big point is this. All the money has been chucked down the drain if we don’t improve on the pitch. It’s not my money but it’s obvious what needs doing. If they are honest there is not much anyone can do about February weather but was that performance of a type that would attract one single person back. It may simply be smart to offer those who got community tickets or whatever back again for free-least worst option the York game.
