Yup. Powers that be across all sports don’t seem to like walk ups anymore. I can see why and a lot of people, if they decide on the spur of the moment to come, can probably buy on their phone and show the code at the gate so I suspect not a big problem.
Unless there's no box office available or its prohibitively expensive to use, I think it's daft not to have at least some cash sale option. When you have 8k or so empty seats why put any hindrances on the way of selling them?
Also the club message stated something like there will be no sales on the day. Does that mean they close online sales overnight on Saturday? Hopefully not.
Yes, their tweet said no tickets available on the day.
When I think back to Sept 1980, as a Fulham Season Ticket holder my ticket was free but some of my mates paid on the day. There was even the free turnstile because of the Lord's Day Observance lot. Thankfully things have moved on but this even in covid times makes little or no sense.
Looking at the tickets sold (by looking at the ticket site and seeing how many tickets are unavailable) it looks like about 800ish, plus a couple of hundred in the south stand.
So I think they will get >1K but struggle to get 1.5K, but lets see how many come in the community stands, that might push it to 1.5K
Not buying on the day could alienate people. Its ok if you have a smart phone and can buy through the phone on the day but a lot of people dont have them. Imagine taking a lot of time and effort to get there and you cant get in would you come back especially new fans

In the situation that the club is in it, really should be making it as easy as possible for people to attend. Not to offer pay at the gate as an option, strikes me as ludicrous. We really cannot afford to turn anyone away. I know we are being forced into becoming a cash free society, which I must say drives me mad. But the Broncos are heading to becoming a fan free club. I see this as utter madness.
If there really are no tickets available on the day, in any way, I hope this has been made clear to Widnes. Imagine driving down from Cheshire and then being refused admission as you hadn't pre-purchased.
