Interested to see the comment that the refs don’t get picked up on mistakes! When they get dropped to lower league games! Which happens! It costs em in the pocket

If this is the case most of them would be officiating in a lower league each week.
So all refs are rubbish, how would you suggest you change that situation? Extra training? Full time Refs are already full time! Consistency! Humans will make errors! You can never change that! Let’s have have 3 4 5 Refs on the pitch, let’s stop play after every tackle and review it! We have vid ref, folk don’t like that it apparently spoils the game. So be interesting to hear suggestions. Of course salford complained about the Ref, they lost the game on a last play penalty, obviously that was the Ref cheating not the player!
It strikes me that the consensus among the rugby community is that the referees, especially this new intake, are not up to the job. The RFL need to get their heads out of the sand, realize that there is a problem and get it sorted.
On the topics of referees (which seems to be where this has gone), a Good referee (refereeing performance) should warrant no mention of the man i the middle is dispatches. There were plenty of strange call both for and against the broncos over the years, but only one sticks in my memory....July 5th, 2003, Griffin Park v Hull FC last play of the match......it's still the #1 reason that I bought into the whole "bias against London" conspiracy as it was the most blatant piece of inept refereeing I have ever seen.
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.

And there lies your problem Northy you see life in a very simplistic way.
What about getting someone at the head of the referees organisation who is strategic and can look at referring holistically. What it is the game wants(not what you think what the game wants..engagement), what skills referees need, application of the rule book, how Refs can be assisted (2 refs/TJ/cameras..), soft skills required, where do we recruit new referees, training and development programmes, finance......

I remember it well it involved Denis Moran, I think he had just flown back from Australia. If he had scored we would have won. Was Ganson the Ref that day?

I remember this game well...I couldnt be at Griffin Pafk as I was on a family holiday....but it was shown on Sky at the bar I was frequenting... After many San Miguels and in a pleasant state of Menorcan merriment even I could see we had been done up like the proverbial kipper..
You can take the boy out of the Bush...But you can,t take the Bush out of the boy!!!
