The end of June was always the case, seems a bit odd that no alternative arrangements have been announced yet, even if it’s “don’t worry we have another venue available” Suppose it is still two months away though. Wonder how woodsy will explain this one away?
Well, TWP are still selling season tickets. Although they were supposed to be available for collection from early March, that did not happen. It has been said that the game might be played despite works not being finished. I think that this is extremely unlikely. More likely it will be moved to another venue. I understand that the ground at Hamilton is not available, but the University of Guelph has a stadium which is. That is over sixty miles away to the west from Toronto. I looked up things to do in Guelph, one of them was mixing with donkeys, That could well be us, with Ralph Rimmer , Brian Barwick,, Simon Johnson and the rest of the donkeys at the top of the RFL. seriously, WILL SOMEONE SORT THIS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sister in law used to live there......I have visited the place twice and it's not much more than a university city...pretty non-descript with many of the residents commuting to well paid jobs in Toronto by train.
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.

We (Leigh) play there on 30th June. I wonder if/when they will switch that one? Our game at Toulouse has been switched to Albi, a mere 70km away. When the club complained, they were told that fans could get on a train. It's just a pity they had booked flights to, & hotels in, Toulouse!
Hopefully, our 'Summer Bash' game with Toronto, doesn't get switched from Blackpool, on the basis that it would be an anti-climax for Toronto, compared with the 'Magic Weekend'!
The Toronto v Swinton game has shifted to another venue near Toronto so at least they seem to be trying to play in Canada. The potentially bad news for some is the locals seem to think public transport there is a challenge and it might sell out.
Obviously not certain the London game will also play there but two points for those already booked to keep an eye on.
There is absolutely no confidence on the TWP forum that the stadium will be available for our game against them. Fletchers field is apparently their only option. The RFL will not sanction playing games where the goals are the fork type as used in American Football. Access, facilities and parking are said to be, not good. The capacity at 3200 is said to be pushing it. Sell outs expected at all games played there. We shall have to see how things transpire.
Bosty have you looked at fletchers field on the web? It has a single temporary build type stand, pretty large, but typical of small school college type pitch in N America. Currently there is no fencing around what looks to be the main pitch, it will be interesting to see how they address that, the Canadian RU national team have played their so they must have some plans for crowd control in place. Not got a problem with TWP using an alternate venue, at least it’s still in Canada, decent notice has been given for the Swinton game, just hope for the London fans wanting to travel they announce it early so folk can plan, although it scuppers the plans of staying in the city and public transport to the game. Was it Hunslet many years ago that had American football type sticks for a couple of seasons? New rules on dead ball does mean that you cants use them
Yes, Hunslet did have that style of posts for a while.
Have to say I don't think I'm going to Toronto now. Prices for flights etc will be silly by the time they confirm at this rate. If it's a full 3G pitch install I'll be surprised if they do it in time for our game.
I was supposed to be going with Oxford last season but family issues scuppered that. The pitch this season. Next season perhaps....
