In other words, the ref is always right even when they're wrong.
The trouble is, Micky1234 (aka northernbloke), is that there isn't any consistency in many refereeing decisions. My view is that if the spectator not aware of the referee then the ref has done a good job. This is now (usually) not the case and often comes across as biased to certain sides - even to a neutral. Why the RFL appointed a rookie ref for our game v Hull KR game beggars belief. Easily influenced by a baying crowd is my bet and is the reason why we were penalised out of the game. In previous seasons he (the referee) would try to even up the penalty count. Even this gesture doesn't happen these days.
There was no vid ref at Toronto! The tv pictures were not provided by sky, they took the tv from a partner provider, suspect there were not enough cameras to allow VR to be used. Every Catalan home game is on tv, they don’t have VR. It does raise the question with SL why they don’t have VR at every game.
The Refs know the penalty count! As for balancing out the penalty count are you suggesting that the ref should penalise a team when they don’t need it to even it out? Its a fact of the game, like players Refs are humans! Standards will differ, you are never going to change that in a sport that involves humans! I still have never seen a ref offside! I have never seen a Refs knock on it pass forward! Blame the players not the officials. The player that dropped the ball scoring the try! Everyone is quite happy that he claimed a try even though he knew he knocked on, so we don’t mind a cheat but we berate a bloke he calls what he saw! Eg the TJ
More to the point anyone got any news on the injuries? Harro, how bad is his injury, is his season done? Cunny any news? Dixon was it an AC injury or not?

As I have said in previous posts the Refs are not penalised for there mistakes even though it can make a difference to a clubs season. The Ref we had at our last game made so many mistakes it was unbelievable and this was shown in the London supporters booing him off when we were 24 8 up. All we ask is for Refs to be consistent which they are not, it does not matter how much you protect them I feel the referee's are the weakest part of the game.
All you can ask of the match officials is consistency on the day, be the same for both teams! Officials all work to the same rule book, but standards will differ, not every ref can be Ben Thaler!

The main frustration for fans is lack of consistency on the day. I doubt too many start thinking about whether last week's ref would have given a penalty for something.
My concern with refs is that they seem to focus so much on fitness that they forget (or don't have ) Man management skills.
When i'm watching refs they seem obsessed with getting into the right position(back 10) rather than just managing the game. Never do you see a ref stood by the ruck when the games getting messy as they are drilled to be back 10. The way they speak to players at times is childish.
When you have Ganson setting the tone for the group its not a great start

Im not sure refs are the weakest part of the game, Marketing, crowds, The RFL, In fighting.......... all outdo Refs
I was speaking about match days. The RFL have not got a brain cell between them especially after today and moving the Salford game giving only 5 days notice. It is the same for the Salford fans who are traveling to London as when the RFL moved the day of the Catalan game they will loose money for hotel booking and public transport.
