Where did you see this news ? Can he take the Wire shirt with him ?

Looking at the ticket site looks like a much reduced crowd for Whitehaven unless there are a lot of late sales.

Just went to ticketing site, looks like less than 500 sold right now, and we are 4 days away from game. Not looking good, we should be over 1K at least and more like 1.5K if we are to build on the first game?

Where are the repeat Dons fans, was the spectacle on offer not engaging enough for them to come back?

It's a little bit more (my counting me be questionable mind), but that's picking hairs and I take your point. At the weekend the sales had squeezed past 500 by a handful of seats. Appears to be circa 125 sold during the week.

I only glanced before the Widnes match, but the final attendance looked a sizeable increase on what was sold on-line a day or so before.

I haven't bought our tickets yet. Basically there is no need when there is no prospect of a sell-out. We take the same approach for anything such as the Theatre, only purchasing early if it might sell out or the good seats go (more an issue at the Theatre than Plough Lane). In the current global climate it's just not worth pre-purchasing for a single event to be honest.

My guess is the final number will exceed 1K comfortably. At a stretch maybe closer to 1.5K, but probably won't reach it. The lack of 400+ Widnes supporters will have some impact, I assuming less than 100 from Whitehaven?

Regardless the figure will be interesting, but only the club is likely to have a true(r) insight in terms of offers used, returnees etc. Assuming there were a large number of first timers for Widnes what percentage would be expected to return? Not huge which is why continuously introducing newcomers is critical. A hit rate of 30% only creates 300 returnees out of a 1,000. At most the number of first timers v Widnes can't have exceeded 1,000 by much (or at all).

I still question the apparent lack of engagement locally and the almost total reliance on AFC Wimbledon supporters to form the additional new fan base. I don't have the baggage of the club's historical issues, so for now I'll accept step 1 is AFC Wimbledon with local residents being targeted as the summer weather approaches. There is some logic in that as you will probably get one, two at best, opportunities to hook people, and a cold February afternoon may not be the best time.

I believe it’s called “advertising puff” rather than an out and out lie.

Thanks for this, if this is true and we get over 1K then we still going to correct direction. This would be one of the lowest attended games in the season anyway, so we keep over 1K, then at least we are not going backwards even if we are not building on top of

This is the one to come to. We really should be competitive in this. If not we have problems.
I’ll guess an attendance of just over a 1000
On another thread I’ve banged on about off field stuff we don’t do anymore. Things I missed off included visits to schools - not sure who would do that now and the Food Bank PR stuff isn’t really doable where staff are part time. Broncos management have a lot to think about, a large to-do list and not much time. Tricky times.

Hasn't this kinda been David Hughes' MO everywhere we've gone?

There does seem to be a plan for community fan base building - whether it's a good one is not yet clear.

To be fair experience at other clubs shows this work is invariably slow burn in terms of generating a support base. I think it made sense to go big on Dons fans first. It certainly won't make sense if it becomes clear attracting Dons fans was the only plan.
