I am not actually disagreeing with you, it is crazy that you have 2 domestic leagues playing different rules and then a different set for international games. But why is that fault of the RFL if thats whats being suggested.
Changes to the rules has been a part of the game ever since i have been watching it, some good, some bad. Without it we would still be in unlimited tackle territory and 3 points for a try, so its not all bad

Don't think anyone specified the RFL but unless its been wound up on the quiet, I thought the International Rugby League was the world governing body. So in this instance, those pillocks.
So IRLF set the international rules, err those pillocks as you call them are between a rock and a hard place. Whos rules should they follow. RFL do one thing NRL do another! Rule changes differ each year depending on hemisphere. 1 or 2 referees being a classic. There is no world governing body that sets the laws of the game for domestic leagues, only international games.

Wow, I wonder how other sports manage when there are many more countries playing ?

Perish the thought that FIFA, the ICC or World Rugby to name but 3 don't have control of the rules of their games. RL is a fairly simple game, you would think the RFL & NRL could put self interest aside & agree on a set of rules for the greater good of the game. As I said previously, pillocks the lot of them.

Now here's a thing. Plenty of folk have often mused about the NRL taking over the RFL/SL to make it better, but the reality is a far different thing. The NRL are the #1 game in 2 of the most populous states in Australia, but are still behind other games elsewhere. The SL era in the UK was driven by an Australian owned broadcaster who genuinely though that the game would "explode" as an summer thing to do outside of soccer.....it didn't!
In short. we let the aussies run the game at the start of SL......why do you think letting them at it again will be any different?
Venture capitalists are crawling over other sports with huge offers......why do you think the All Blacks are a bigger more financially viable option that the entire Superleague?
