"Seems to me they have it very cushy. Half a season playing ‘away’ with very little travelling involved and then half a season at home where their opponents have an eight hour flight before each game. Someone is pulling the strings!"
Whilst i am all for expansion, and supporting developments, this arrangement does give them a huge advantage. None of their players are Canadian so 2/3 months here and then the remainder back in Toronto gives them a perfect arrangement
What wil be interesting will be the eights.. I can just see the RFL putting all there home and away games clumped like the regular season. IF they do that then it will be more obvious how they are rigging this for Toronto than Australian cricketers rigged the ashes.
Must be a real pain for the poor little loves, all these games in a block away from home away from there families and loved ones all the time. Errr hold on! Remember the discussion we had about player citing home sickness as his reason for his get out then going to Canada ( oops Manchester) he seems to be quite happy, even when they de camp to Canada it will be for 9 home games not 11 looks pretty cushy to me. Anyone know if the stadium re surfacing is on schedule? How about putting money on them playing there middle 8 home games in the UK?
Australian cricketers did not rig anything, they just cheated.
I have been told that the completion date for the work on Lamport Stadium has moved back to 29th June. With our game on 9th June where does that leave us? Perhaps we shall play the game at Skolars. Seriously something needs to be sorted.
Did the initial report not say end of June with possibility of it being earlier if the weather was kind and the contractor cracked on with it. Contractor working on a govt contract is never going to have an early completion bonus, so what reason would they ever finish early? Think it’s pretty set our game will not be at Lamport Stadium! What incentive do Toronto have to find another venue in Canada? Any bets on when the announcement will come to say where in the UK the game will be played?
Quite a few folks have already booked travel (not me yet), so will be some very upset folks if this not in Canada...more so if they booked non refundable tickets

Hamilton is 1hr by Train from the Toronto CBD........or are they not talking to Eric Perez at all any more?
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
The prices from Air Transat in the TWP promotion, increase as you get closer to the game. At the moment you get the package for less than five hundred pounds each when two people travel. This goes up in April, which is why people have booked. We regularly have this issue with away games though. Not that it is any comfort.
