As for "struck it lucky". Not our fault we saw something in him and took the plunge, other clubs could have gone for him. He is now a better player than when we signed him, that is down to him being here.
Because it simply doesn’t work like that, I know your a long way from civilisation down there but I don’t know what point you’re struggling with.
Do you think anyone is going to pay a fee for a 30 year old player with one years SL experience, join the real world.
If Battye wants out he will get it and there will be no fee. If he wants to stay with London he will. Let me tell you right now a RL contract for a championship player isn’t worth the paper it’s written on! Even a full time SL contract is hard to enforce.
When did you last hear of a fee being paid from SL to a championship club for an ageing player who didn’t even come up through the clubs ranks.
To me it looks like he’s not interested in a move and good for him as the grass isn’t always greener. If he’s happy at London good for him but he’s not an asset you can cash in on if he decides otherwise, those days are long gone.
