Call me old fashioned but I thought the idea of a sporting league was to finish as high up the table as possible. Points at the start of the season are worth the same as those at the end. Hughes strategy these days seems to be to try and get away with the cheapest squad he can then augment it when he realises the blindingly obvious fact we are not good enough. Far from growing the fan base this is disrespectful to those who are paying good money to see the team especially the few remaining ST holders.

My preferred method of assembling a squad is its done over the closed season allowing for a big impactful start, some positivity and bigger crowds but this chaotic way of doing business may work. BT think that's what we would all like! But things are as they are. On a positive with whare and Norman it's experience coming in. On the negative side it means a couple of local developed players miss out. Might mean we get a couple more games at end of the season with a pop at play offs

The way RL works is you need to hit form at the end of the season. Leeds have been crowned 'champions' from 5th. Mac once said when at Quins that he made a mistake by getting the team to fire from the start and couldn't keep it going all season.

There is a bit of a difference between having your squad peaking for the play offs and only realising half way through the season your squad is too poop to make them.
