For atmosphere, even though we only used one stand, griffin park was a lovely little ground, and very akin to some of the northern traditional grounds. Toilets were a bit grotty, bar was not the best, sounds like Cas! Parking was a nightmare, but for a fan probably best place we have been. For the players not sure what the facilities were like.
Can’t agree. Think what you mean is we may have still been in SL. Nothing is a given. If we hadn’t appointed Rob Powell there is nothing to say any other coach would have done better. Pretty pointless looking backwards all the time though. Important thing is the competition we are in now and how we progress in the future.
"I believe if we had stayed there (Griffin Park) we'd be on 8k gates and still in SL."
Whilst kind of agree about Griffin Parp i am not sure we would be at 8k? And a lot of other changes would have to take place - many of which you have highlighted in the past - owners, administration, marketing etc etc. Also same argument applies to Quins, which is a much better ground, better facilities and a proper rugby pitch. Also isnt Griffin Park going to get bulldozed at some point?
I don't remember us having more than 5K at Griffin Park in the early years, apart from when we played Wigan or saints etc..... We opened one stand for home, and the uncovered stand for away....
I think moving to the stoop was a bad idea, but not convinced staying at Brentford would have kept us in SL...
Regarding parking I used to park at the nearby school, think it was £5 per game to part there.

This with bells on!
I remain convinced that he still bankrolls us out of guilt for that enormous dummy spit....I remember getting the text from Gus announcing "we were saved" and going to compete in 2014 and thinking to myself that we'd be relegated winless.......Hughes is our benefactor but he is also the reason we are in the 2nd tier.....
As for Griffin Park......it is the only ground that we left with more fans than we arrived with...3,803 when we arrived in 2002 and 3,918 when we left.....working class suburb and we were welcomed. If we'd have stayed there we'd have been invited to Lionel Road.......Hughes could have even chipped in and we'd have a permanent home!
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
i see he is chipping away at the average gates at worcester.........I met the kiwi bloke who gave him his first job after 18 months on "gardening leave"......I am not alone in my opinion as to how useless a pr1ck he is.......absolutely stealing a wage and apparently claims he "saved us" when interviewed.
