In player welfare? Am I the only one who thought Percival should have had a red card for his highly dangerous tackle around the neck?

Union saw quite a lot of red cards for that type of offence last season to try to stop it. Clearly League are less concerned.

Was undecided on that tackle if it was intentional or not, take Tompkins out of the game?

I think some of the sholder charges on the kicker were as bad as the high tackle.

Are you saying you only get a red card if you put a player out of the game? Truly strange attitude for you to have. Tompkins could very well suffered a serious throat injury from that sort of tackle. If you want to cut it out, red cards will eventually work, yellow cards will not. Playing a man short for 10 mins if you can put the oppositions star player out of the game will be a risk some clubs might consider.

You only have to look at Quin's DemetrI Catrakilis' hospitalisation after getting a shoulder in the throat while tackling a player to see how vulnerable that part of a player's body is.

Agreed thought the ref was poor on those too but no doubt he is NB's love child.

The Bunker in The NRL and Union with the Match Official, are more active than our video referee, agree with Percival, the video referee should alert the referee, it will be interesting the injury to the Catalan player if any further action will be taken.

Sums up our game, everything is weak!

Never said that or suggested it, refs decision should never be driven by the outcome, just the actual act.
I was commenting on the tacklers actual intention, was it deliberate or a very poor attempt at a tackle! Didn't actually say what I think the result should have been in my view

Look at the incident with Tompkins, the VR made the recomendation on it being a card.ypu saw the ref taking the advice As for the injury, Tompkins played rest of the match he wasn't injured.
All games should have VR IMO, but in NRL bunker has too much say imo
Percival has done a few similar challenhes over last few games have seen him play, so erring on the thinking it was deliberate not careless

Still a red card in my view. Shame the ref needed to be "advised" to show a card lord knows what he was watching if he & the touch judges didn't see it!!

Look at the incident, he blew for the penalty, play stopped, Tompkins was down injured receiving treatment. No cards are ever given until after any injury has been dealt with, at that time ref was probably taking information from the VR on the view of how serious and should it be a card.
Same happened with sami soni injury, after injury dealt with player was given card.
After official has taken advice from all sources.
Without the VR probably same call, had it been stiiff forearm maybe a different call.
He obviously had seen it as the whistle was blown for a penalty
