Can’t see the season starting as planned, and presumably pre-season cancelled/delayed and players back on furlough. Think April/may is the earliest start - very depressing...........
In theory there is no reason why season cant start as planned as long as champ is classed as elite sport. Sensibly and financially though with very little chance of fans being allowed back in stadiums. It seems crazy. More important for players and staff with how football seems to be going with rising numbers of positives and talk of pause in the season

Whats changed?? Lockdown finishes mid Feb, 13 million vulnerable people will be vaccinated by then, I would say its all systems go as long as championship is elite sport. Eccles and Co need to be flogging the players.
Lockdown currently is planned to finish mid feb! Whats changed? Hmmmm intersting comment. Coming out of lockdown is not going to be swift, so getting fans back into stadiums is not going to happen till a lot later, can lower tier clubs afford it. Thats whats changed

You're not usually that deluded WQ? Where do you get the idea 13m people will be vaccinated in the next 5 weeks when there are currently only about half million doses of vaccine in the country?
Who is going to pick up the tab for the testing that will be required? The cost of putting on a game behind closed doors could be prohibitive. Can't see how a club can fund all of that & player wages IF the only income stream is ppv (how much would the RFL cteam of the top for using their platform) & sponsors unless Amazon, Alphabet or Google are signing up tomorrow?
Two things that are required are leadership & planning. Depressingly the RFL & SL are incompetent at both.

To your list of incompetents you could add the Government.

The season is planned to start end of Feb(Pre lockdown) currently with live streaming for fans. That won't change due to the tier 4 - lockdown change. Nothing changes.

Aaaaah the Govt say a lot of things & they mostly get turned on their heads in no time at all. Do schools ring a bell?
Like to know if there are any estimates of how much the streaming of games will generate. Anyone want to offer up how much they want to pay per game? £5, £10 or what £20? Perhaps ML might like to tell us how much it costs to put on a behind closed doors match. Don't think that should be a state secret but knowing Broncos perhaps it is.

The Tiers, London is in Tier 5 is to be reviewed on 15/2/2021, not necessarily ended. M Gove said on Today on Radio 5 that lockdown was likely to continue till March. Furlough funding continues till April - is any business going to throw away 80% funding on a possible resumption of business, but with no (or very little funding)? I just cannot see it.
The 13million vaccinated is just another throw away promise/prediction which this government makes, and then doesn’t deliver.
I would love to see the season start, and get to games, I like your enthusiasm/optimism, but just don’t believe it I’ll happen........
