Leigh Centurions Named As Superleagues Twelfth Side for 2021
It has been confirmed that the Leigh Centurions will replace the Toronto Wolfpack for the Superleague 2021 season after they were determined to have entered the most complete and appealing bid of the six sides who were hoping to play in the topflight next season.
Without playing a ball, or making a tackle, Leigh were chosen ahead of Bradford Bulls, Featherstone Rovers, London Broncos, Toulouse Olympique and York City Knights, much to the delight of their fans, players and administrators.
Coach John Duffy now has a small window during which to strengthen his side ahead of the start of the competition on the 11th March 2021, a time when hopefully there will be some spectators allowed inside stadia.

What a disaster it would have been, if The Broncos had been given the twelfth spot in Super League for 2021. Leigh are not having much success, but imagine how badly we would have done with our team. I cannot believe that we would have added many more recruits to the squad. It would have been dreadful. I believe Leigh were set up to fail by being given the promotion. Self interest of the SL clubs intent on retaining their place at the top table. We think things are bad now. how bad would they have been getting thrashed each week.

You may be right Vic but we will never know whether the cavalry was about to arrive over the hill if we'd got the Super League spot. The interesting question now is will the great & the good of SL find away to scrap relegation to save Leigh or mug whoever wins the Champ play offs in the same way they did to Leigh.

Feel what remains of The RFL will do all they can to ensure another French side! to get the game more TV in France, can't believe the Catalan owner has been paying a reported £15K for matches to be covered, add on the private jet costs!

The only sad thing about the Cats is 15 years down the line & they are still dependant on non French players to be competitive.
There was a well reasoned argument, I think on Love Rugby a while back with the idea that Cats, Toulouse (& by association Broncos) allowed into SL & not subject to relegation as long as they had a higher % of French players in their matchday squad.
