So according to BBC the initial criteria for consideration for SL is you have either to have played in SL during 2018 & 2019 or finished in top 6 of the Championship in those seasons. So Beeb are saying that is Broncos, Bradford, Featherstone, Halifax, Leigh, Toulouse, Widnes & York. To have so many clubs up for consideration is daft as no doubt any of those that are interested with end up spending precious money to bang their drum.
I would have limited it to teams that had played in SL those seasons or played in the Million £ game. That i think would give us Broncos, Widnes & Featherstone.
Top 6 in Championship gives mediocre success over those 2 seasons. Team 2018 2019 Broncos 2 SL Bradford - 6 Featherstone 5 5 Halifax 4 8 Leigh 6 4 Toulouse 3 2 Widnes SL 11 York - 3 Looking at this, Bradford & York should be excluded as haven't been in Champ in both seasons. Broncos are the stand out team despite fan base or stadium. The only other team would be Toulouse. Even Widnes had 2 very different seasons. So i would add Toulouse to Broncos, Widnes & Featherstone. Nothing to suggest on the playing field the others need bother to apply. I would go further & suggest whichever team gets the nod, they are protected from relegation in 2021 due to the money grab the SL teams have done on their share of funding. Of course there appears to be other criteria on which the decision will be based but that currently is a secret, well not in the public domain as yet!!
Hard to have any confidence the RFL won't cock this up as they so often do.
Allez les Chevaux Dangereux as the French would say.

The spanner in the works for the administrators is the renegotiating of the TV deal. To promote a club like Fev would prove how insular the sport is. If I was a TV executive. I would take from them that the sport lacks ambition and has no desire to sell itself to the world beyond the M62 corridor. Thus the product is drastically devalued. Even worse for the sport. Possibly has no value to them at all.

I stand by until we come out of COVID 19 and get it under some control, it would be wrong to add a second French team to Super League, especially after the way Catalan have experienced problems.

Probably the ones that: Ignore we have the best playing record over the 2 years they're looking at. Ignore our player development. Ignore we play in a world city. I'm sure there are plenty more. But at the end of the day, it is performance on the pitch that secures & maintains a place in SL not your ground or fan base.
