With summer bash looming, I am assuming that here will not be a special shirt for this year. I would have thought if there was we would have heard about it by now. Saves me a few bob if there is not.
I have to say that I would not be too bothered if this was the last season that we had this event. It does nothing but distort the league and Blackpool is not somewhere I would choose to spend a Bank Holiday weekend.

Just a warning that the trains from Preston to Blackpool are a shambles at the moment post the planned engineering works over the winter. Trains are regularly subject to cancellation with little notice, however they are running a regular rail replacement bus service so all is not lost.

When heading home I would allow a little extra time to get to Preston if you have an Advance ticket on the mainline .Plan on using the bus, longer journey time, but you should be okay.

It will be interesting to see how many people there will be in Bloomfield Rd when our game kicks off on Sunday.
I can see that it will not look too good on TV, lets us hope that the RFL have got their marketing right and pull in the crowds.

The fans could be outnumbered by Stewards for the Sunday opening game, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are less than for the women's game on Saturday. I know people who are upset we are on first, but what are Sky / RFL meant to do when the facts are neither team will bring many of their own fans and the fans of other teams will be walking off Saturday nights hangover.

With no Bradford or Hull KR fans to swell the crowds, Sunday will be embarrassing for the sport.

Would you, if your team were playing on Saturday, bother to buy a ticket for Sunday? I would not.
Okay our game could well be one of the best games over the weekend. Rochdale v Swinton and Batley v Dewsbury are hardly going to set the world on fire.
I shall be happy to be proved wrong.

It’s that question of is it worth the effort to put this event on? One thing it does achieve is to get championship rugby league on sky, with the lack of numbers watching is that good or bad, tv showing an empty stadium is never good, but at least they get some air time.
I reckon you will get a few neutrals in to watch us, but not many

Most neutrals will still be in bed or in the pub at kick off time.

Just looked at events in Blackpool this weekend. No mention of the Summer Bash what so ever. Typical !!!
