Never given much thought to the finances of the NRL, but to read recently that they have reserves of several hundred million of A$, own hotels & Lord knows what else & it does rather confirm that the RFL/owners are useless self-centered pillocks having spent over 100 years getting the game nowhere in this country by comparison. I suppose the RFL can point to owning the hole in the ground as a shining example of their business acumen with a mantra of the M62 or die.

Quite like the idea of the NRL playing games in London having watched their Las Vegas efforts.

Difference with the NRL and RFL is the clubs themselves. Look at manly, Illawara as examples of clubs who were set up and run correctly as businesses with well run money making social clubs. Manly in the 80s were bigger than Man U in UK. So from the outset Aus rugby has had a solid financial base. Uk rugby clubs tried it, aka Warrington at wilderspool it never quite took off the same way. Can't blame the RFL for everything it's got to be the clubs up

The RFL are the puppets, but it's the likes of Leeds, Wigan, Warrington & Saints who are the puppet masters. Go figure.
