Pleased news of recruitment has started. Seen him a few times in NRL. A big athletic backrow forward. Let's hope he stays fit. A young player which is a positive. Jones seems to have disappeared, Macqueen may well retire, so an area we need players. I'd love to see a top hooker and half back.

Is there a hidden hint in the Sam Powel thing ?
We have reportedly signed a half back as well haven't we as well as Adam Swift , We certainly need both.

Two players i would love to have seen back are Brierly and Eden, I never wanted either one to leave, Brierly never had a chance at Huddersfield , In 50 years of watching Fartown after 20 years of watching Wakey i have never seen a player in our colours back up as well as he did, he was always on the shoulder of anyone who made any kind of break, sadly we didn't have anyone who would or could make the offload, He would have scored tries for fun if we had, ( what changes )
Eden was unpopular at our club because he was prone to making mistakes, some of them at bad times, but i could live with the mistakes because he was exiting to watch and he had speed to burn. He has been a good player for Cas for quite a few seasons now and he has a few more in him IMO, not with us sadly.
Wonder if the new guys will be allowed to play with a bit of flair or if they will have to dance to the tune of the piper.
We do see from time to time some very good moves from the team proving that they can do it and it makes it so baffling why they play such dull football for so much of the time, when they are in that mood teams just destroy us with a few offloads and a bit of pace.
Anyway Mr Davy is obviously prepared to carry on putting his money up so lets hope next season Mr Watson finally gets it right

What is quite worrying is that Adam Swift will probably sit on the bench while Jake Bibby continues to lumber up and down the wing

Adam Clune is playing for Newcastle Knights at the moment, they guaranteed the play offs last week. Looks a good player.

God no please not Sam Powell. Unfortunately that is exactly the kind of signing Watson loves, yet another grafting plodder. Murchie looks good, shame it probably means we lose McQueen

"In 50 years of watching Fartown after 20 years of watching Wakey i have never seen a player in our colours back up as well as he did, he was always on the shoulder of anyone who made any kind of break" - C'mon what about Greg Austin? I wouldn't want brierly back, i agree wholeheartedly we need a player to back up and finish chances, but he is too lightweight for the modern game.

Swift will be one of your players to support breaks next season. He's one of the few Hull players to do this.

You've supposed to have signed Savelio too. I do wonder how he'll get on with Josh Jones if he's still at Hudds next year

Far as I'm aware Muchie is McQueens replacement - who is set to retire at the end of this season.

I've heard that Saveilo, Swift & Clune will all be in Claret & Gold next season.

Cant agree with you there Hangeman, I do remember Austin of course I well remember that day he scored all those tries ( think it was against Blackpool IIRR in a cup game perhaps, ( not sure but i think it's still the record score in League not certain )

I think Brierley is doing a good job where he is, and yes he is tall and slim but i doubt he's as lightwieght as all that. anyway we all have our opinions and that's as it should be.

We shall have to judge our new men when we see them play, I worry about what sort of football we are going to be playing next year, what worked for us last year certainly hasn't this time. We have had a few good performances to be fair but we've had more bad ones . I firmly believe that the only way to bring people in is to play open attractive football , it's arguably more important than winning, When Nathan Brown was here we were creeping up and over 8.000 and yet under P Anderson with his dull Bradford big pack style we won the hub cap and lost numbers on the terrace. anyway as ever it's just my opinions , we shall see in the fullness of time.
