I love this club and sir Ken and for as bad as we have been this season I think it would have been harsh for us to drop through the trap door after all our injuries. That said, the last 2 or three seasons have been pretty miserable on the whole and I think after escaping by the skin of our teeth some changes now need to be made.
Medical / physio issues need addressing given the amount of injuries and more to the point failure to recover from said injuries. How many times were we told Cudjoe close, 1 or 2 weeks. Others were injured apparently short term, wardle, Uate, Turner, English then heard nothing more about them week after week. This has been frustrating in terms of what we are told and how accurate it has been.
Signings made have also been poor. I know injuries played their part but Frawley, Matagi and Uate have been a waste sadly. Maybe this is our level as we have no right to expect Ken to shell out on marquee players with the crowds we get but one thing is for sure, the squad needs a fairly large overhaul if we are ever going to challenge again. Roberts, Seb, Walne, Frawley, Matagi, Mellor and Uate are not good enough. Maybe due to contracts only Mellor will leave. As good a Edwards can be he ain’t going to change things in his own.
Sorry, given we survived I started, thinking my post would be more positive but relief aside I can’t help bring so disappointed this year.
Will no doubt get my 25th season ticket and will be there every week as normal but I genuinely hope for some change in the off season.
We have had a bad time with injuries, but so have everyone else, I will be waiting to see what changes take place before i buy another season ticket, I wont be falling for the winter " we really think we can win something " speeches. We need a huge turn around of forwards, whether that will be possible i don't know but we can hope.
