New 2 year deal.

Have to say 2 years seems a bit strange, I would have thought we would have offered 3/4 years.

The lad’s just about to turn 22. He’s established himself as a first pick in a middle ranking SL team. He has a long career ahead of him and, I hope, he wants to win things.

If you were him, would you commit to the Giants?

In two years time he’ll have two years more experience, approaching the peak five years of his career, and he’ll be free to talk to an ambitious club about it.

I hope the Giants offered him a longer contract, but I can completely understand why he might not have signed it.

How do you know we didn’t??
Also the moaning on here when players have been given long term deals is enormous. Now it’s two years it’s beibg questioned.
This both keeps him on his toes- and his options open.

I’m Happy with this news.

Yea players have gone off the boil when given long deals (e.g. Roberts) I'm happy with 2 years, as i stated on another thread, Mcintosh isn't scared to try to improve his game. He threw some awful passes early season at full back, but more recently has thrown some miss out balls that have resulted in tries, so he doesn't let failure bother him. I think he will keep developing and be a really top player in a couple of years, he's already pretty important to us.

yeh good job we got the deal over the line in the end! would have been a big step backwards from the club, maybe smith and roche going gave us the extra cash to get the deal done
